Time to change sexual assault law in Queensland is now

The Queensland Law Reform Commission is looking at Consent and Mistake of Fact in sexual assault and rape cases in Queensland.

Women’s Legal Service Queensland will be making a submission and encourage individuals and sexual assault, DV and women’s services to participate in this process.

The Discussion Paper is very legalistic so we have made available a template for a submission that can be used by individuals and sexual assault agencies.

If you use the template, please ensure you:

  • Read through the document to make sure you/your agency agrees and make any changes you think are appropriate.
  • Check all of the yellow highlighted parts and address them (or delete if they are not relevant to you/your agency).
  • Remove the yellow highlight formatting and watermark before submitting.
