Counselling Notes Protect is a statewide service delivered by Women’s Legal Service Queensland and Legal Aid Queensland, providing free legal advice and representation to victim‑survivors of sexual assault offences seeking to protect their counselling records.

This webinar will introduce the service and unpack key legal concepts, including who is a “counselled person” and “counsellor,” what constitutes “counselling,” and the legal protections that apply to counselling records.

This legal education webinar provides an overview of the child protection framework under the Child Protection Act 1999 (Qld).

Participants will be guided through key aspects of the legislation and how child protection matters are understood and progressed within the legal system.

  • The legal framework for child protection, including when a child may be considered in need of protection and how “harm” is defined
  • Statutory interventions, court processes, and the range of child protection orders
  • The roles of key participants and how matters progress through the system

  • Court processes for resolving parenting matters
  • How the law considers the best interests of the child, and the role of Independent Children’s Lawyers
  • The intersection of parenting arrangements and Domestic Violence Orders

About Community Legal Education

WLSQ delivers community legal education (CLE) for service providers, volunteers, the community and women across Queensland, including in rural, regional and remote areas of the state.

WLSQ presents specialised CLE sessions in the following areas:

  • WLSQ and our referral pathways.
