On February 14, Women’s Legal Service Queensland (WLSQ) implemented an innovative new program that will allow them to support more women experiencing domestic violence.
WLSQ has collaborated with Marrickville Legal Centre (MLC) and the Environmental Defenders Office (EDO) to develop a new legal practice management platform, designed to improve access to justice across Australia.
The new IT program is called Consensus for Purpose and it will mean that WLSQ can dedicate more time to delivering front line services, ultimately helping more women.
CEO Nadia Bromley said more and more women each year were relying on WLSQ to help them navigate the complexities of the legal system.
“Our communities grapple with heightened levels of poverty, violence and homelessness,” she said.
“These challenges and more have meant that we’ve had to find innovative solutions to ensure our precious resources are being used efficiently.
“Consensus for Purpose will allow us to do just that and reduce our administrative workload by 20-30% – meaning we can support more vulnerable women.”
Ms Bromley acknowledged the help of Microsoft Partner, Barhead Solutions and said the software was a testament to the power of collaboration across the community legal sector.
“Together, we are shaping a more efficient and responsive pathway to justice for those who need it most.”
WLSQ is a statewide community legal centre providing free legal advice and other key support services for vulnerable women. The forty-year-old organisation has supported over 150,000 women and sees this new innovation as an opportunity to create safer futures for even more women and children across Queensland.
