Women’s Legal Services Queensland (WLSQ) says terrible reports of a petrol domestic violence attack in 2015 that did not lead to immediate police charges highlight the need for an independent cultural review for Queensland Police relating to domestic violence and gender issues.
WLSQ CEO Angela Lynch is available for comment today about renewed calls for an independent cultural review.
“It is clear to WLSQ this is not a matter of a few bad eggs that can be addressed by responding to individual complaints about inaction and attitudes.
“Unfortunately, this issue is systemic and needs addressing. We know there are good QPS officers who respond appropriately and go above and beyond in domestic violence and sexual violence matters.“
