With coercive control criminalised under the Criminal Code in 2025 and protections well established under the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012, this session will equip professionals with the knowledge and tools to support clients safely and effectively.

Topics Include:

    Identifying coercive control and its impact
    Key provisions under the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012
    Criminal offence under the Criminal Code 1899
    Support and resources available for victim-survivors
    Practical strategies for strengthening service responses and supporting clients

About Community Legal Education

WLSQ delivers community legal education (CLE) for service providers, volunteers, the community and women across Queensland, including in rural, regional and remote areas of the state.

WLSQ presents specialised CLE sessions in the following areas:

  • WLSQ and our referral pathways.
  • Sexual assault: counselling notes privilege.
  • Family law including:
    • Divorce and separation.
    • Parenting arrangements.
    • Property settlement.
    • Family dispute resolution.
  •  Domestic violence including:
